Monthly Garden Challenge
Our idea is to bring neighbors together to care for one garden at a time—and keep caring for it after the first workday.
The Monthly Garden Challenge is a plan for regular garden work: clearing, repairing, replanting, and making sure each space has people to tend it.
West Point on the Eno, Edison Johnson, and Little River Butterfly Garden are among the places we are considering. Sites, permissions, and volunteer dates need to be confirmed before work begins.
Whitehall Terrace’s garden plans are also developing. We hope to share before-and-after photographs and planting notes through a Durham Garden Atlas as the work grows.
Our garden work brings Bulltánica together with Cultivating Resistance Herbals. Ask Monica about volunteering, contributing materials, or supporting the work.

Youth arts/theatre (creative storytelling rooted in intergenerational understanding)
On our visits, we saw garden beds, fencing, and pathways that could support more growing and learning. Our proposal starts with what is already there, then asks what repairs, planting, and ongoing care each place needs.
