Peace Farm

Bulltanica is transforming our East Trinity Avenue property, adjacent to our Cultivating Resistance herb garden Peace Farm, into a nurturing community haven. This space will offer short-term crisis housing and comprehensive after-school programs to uplift and empower at-risk youth and families.Additional planned spaces include dedicated areas for mentorship, wellness workshops, sustainable gardening education, and cultural storytelling, strengthening community bonds and resilience. Additionally, we're creating dedicated spaces for mentorship, community gatherings, and educational workshops that focus on herbalism, sustainable gardening, wellness, and cultural storytelling.

Cultivating Resistance Herbals:
Grant History

Cultivating Resistance Herbals, our nonprofit 501(c)(3), has been honored to receive multiple grants supporting community wellness and sustainable herbal initiatives:

  • RAFI Infrastructure Grant: Funded crucial garden infrastructure upgrades, including a terraced retaining wall, a tall greenhouse, and an herb dryer. This grant was made possible through North Carolina’s Tobacco Trust Fund, supporting local agricultural sustainability.

  • Burt's Bees Grant: Enabled collaboration with Spirit House to deliver wellness boxes containing over 1000 servings of teas and tinctures, harvested directly from our community garden.

  • Durham County Soil & Water Conservation Grants : Provided funding for the installation of an outdoor workshop area, durable brick hardscaping, and a sustainable drip irrigation system. The addition of a rainwater catchment system on our greenhouse further promotes environmental responsibility and resource conservation.

  • We Are The Ones Grant
Funded youth-focused gardening programming at Durham parks and our Peace Farm, empowering young community members through hands-on horticultural education.

  • Communities in Partnership (CIP) Grant
Supported food security initiatives and enabled us to lead workshops on wild and edible foods, fostering greater self-sufficiency and nutritional knowledge within our community.

These grants have significantly expanded our capacity to serve, educate, and sustainably support the Durham community.
